This discussion will address working class aspiration. Is social mobility on the decline and are those who make it through still at a disadvantage? In light of recent cuts to education what can be done to ensure that the professions are not just for the privileged few.

To help address these issues we will be joined by the following guest speakers:

-Sharon Hodgson: Labour MP for Washington and Sunderland West

-Lyn Brown: Labour MP for West Ham

-Poppy Noor:  Freelance Journalist who writes about class, politics, inequality and education

-Shaista Aziz: A working class British Pakistani, a mentor and a writer who examines the intersection of race, gender and class.

-Amna Abdullatif : Community psychologist currently working as the national lead on children and young people for a leading national domestic violence charity in the UK

-Angela Rayner: Labour MP for Ashton-under-Lyne, Shadow Secretary of State for Education TBC

Each speaker will speak for 4 minutes and we will then open the discussion up to the floor where we encourage contributions from the audience.

Please ensure you arrive at least 30 minutes before to allow time to get through security.
